AI Citations — Google AI Overview, ChatGPT, Perplexity

Who gets cited on your keywords, and from which sources

Three engines, three tabs

This page queries the engines on your SEO keywords, not on your scan prompts. The Google AI Overview tab reads the live SERP (up to the project's first 20 keywords); the ChatGPT and Perplexity tabs ask the engine the question with web search enabled (the first 10 keywords). The first load takes 30 to 60 seconds: the queries really do go out.

The Google AI Overview tab

  • Four counters: Keywords analyzed, With AI Overview, Your brand cited, Competitors cited.
  • The AI Overview column reads *Present* or *Absent* — knowing that no AI box shows up on a keyword is useful information in itself.
  • The Brand cited column shows a green check if one of your domains is among the box's sources, a cross otherwise.
  • Click a row to unfold the sources cited in the AI Overview, domain and title, each one clickable.
  • The same call also returns your organic positions for the day: they are archived along the way, with no extra request and no extra cost.

The ChatGPT and Perplexity tabs

  • Brand mentioned: your name appears in the text of the answer.
  • Cited as source: your site appears in the engine's web references — the stronger of the two signals, and the only one that brings traffic.
  • Unfolding a row shows the beginning of the answer (with the model used) and the list of cited sources.
  • Competitors spotted inside the answer are shown as tags, keyword by keyword.

Your AI citations over time

Below the table, a chart counts the keywords where your brand is cited, per engine. One point per analysis — and the Sunday scan feeds the chart automatically, without you having to open the page. It only appears once two readings exist.

The page stays empty?

  • No SEO keyword is set in the project settings: the page says so explicitly and has nothing to query. This is by far the most common cause.
  • The DataForSEO credentials are missing or rejected: the yellow banner repeats the provider's own error message.
  • No collection yet: the page queries nothing on its own and shows a button to start the first (billed) collection.
  • The latest collection shows with its date, whatever its age; Refresh re-runs the queries live — every keyword carries an API cost, so do not do it casually.
