Launch your first scan

The scan is the operation that brings up all data

What is a scan?

A scan is an orchestrated operation that queries in parallel the five AI engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Google AIO via SerpAPI) with each of your prompts, while pulling Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4 and Bing Webmaster data for the same time window. Results are stored in database and feed all dashboard pages (mentions, matrix, sentiment, SOV, sources, etc.).

Scan duration

A typical scan takes between 2 and 5 minutes depending on the number of configured prompts and API latency. The 5 AI engines are queried in parallel to speed up the process, and Google positions are pulled via DataForSEO. You can navigate freely in the application while the scan runs: it continues in background thanks to the persistent jobs system.

Procedure

  • In the dashboard, select the project to scan via the dropdown at the top right.
  • Click the blue Launch scan button.
  • A banner appears at the top of the page: « Scan in progress — automatic status check ».
  • The dashboard automatically refreshes every 15 seconds to update partial results.
  • You can close the tab or change pages: the scan continues server-side.
  • Once the scan is finished, the banner disappears and new numbers are visible everywhere in the app.

Understanding API consumption

Each scan consumes credits on several paid APIs: OpenAI (ChatGPT), Anthropic (Claude), Perplexity, Google Gemini, SerpAPI (Google AIO) and DataForSEO (positions). A typical scan costs between $0.20 and $1 CAD depending on prompt richness — these costs are already included in your subscription.

Scan quotas

  • Starter: 4 scans per month (about 1 per week)
  • Pro: 12 scans per month
  • Enterprise: 30 scans per month (multiple per day if needed)
  • Quotas reset on the 1st of each month
Tip :Recommended frequency: for classic B2B, a weekly scan is largely enough (AIs evolve slowly). For highly competitive markets or crisis monitoring, a daily scan via the Scheduler is relevant.
Warning :First scan: incomplete data: the first scan of a new project produces AI mentions but not yet temporal trends or benchmarks. At least 2-3 scans spaced in time are needed for evolution charts to become meaningful.
