Project Market
The one setting that decides almost all of your data
Open the page in the appWhere to set it
Settings → Project market. Pick the country among 32, spread over four continents and grouped by region. The choice is made project by project: a Montreal client and a Paris client live side by side in the same account, each with its own market.
What this setting decides
- Google rankings: which market your keywords are measured in.
- Search volumes, and the fine-grained location behind them.
- Domain analysis: the country the domain is evaluated on.
- The press edition queried in Google News.
- The directories suggested in local SEO.
- In other words: almost everything PivotSEO brings in from outside goes through this setting.
Market language and interface language
Picking a country automatically suggests its dominant language, which you remain free to change — a Belgian project can be tracked in French or in Dutch. That language is the one used for the project's analyses and deliverables. It is independent of your interface language: you can work in French on a project whose analyses come out in English.
The classic symptom of a wrong setting
- Empty rankings while the site is visibly doing well.
- A flat history, with no usable readings.
- Press from another country, or no coverage at all on a brand that is clearly being written about.
- The same site can have two keywords in one market and a hundred and fifty in another: before suspecting a breakdown, check the country.
