The three pillars of effective GEO tracking

The three required ingredients

PivotSEO needs three distinct elements to work fully. Each fills a different role and draws from different sources. Confusing them is the most common error for new users.

1. SEO keywords (Google queries)

These are the terms your audience types into Google. Examples: « auto insurance Quebec », « mortgage rate comparator », « SEO consultant Montreal ». Used for rank tracking, SEO × GEO Matrix and competitor gap analysis. Plan limits: Starter 50 keywords, Pro 250, Enterprise 1500.

2. AI prompts (questions asked to models)

These are natural-language questions your customers ask AI assistants. Examples: « What's the best auto insurance in Quebec in 2026? », « How to objectively compare a mortgage rate in Canada? », « Who are the best SEO consultants in Montreal? ». These prompts are sent to all five engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Google AIO) during each scan, and PivotSEO analyzes responses to detect mentions of your brand and competitors.

3. Competitors (brands to monitor)

These are companies, brands or sites appearing in your competitive space. PivotSEO automatically detects when they're mentioned in AI responses, letting you measure your share of voice and identify areas where they dominate and where you're absent.

Add manually

In your project's Settings page, each category has its own field with an Add button. You can also paste multiple items at once (one per line). Deletions happen via the small « × » next to each item.

Use Claude Auto-populate

If you prefer to save time, click Auto-populate with Claude. AI retrieves your homepage content, analyzes your sector, then proposes in a single request: 15 SEO keywords, 10 AI prompts with varied intents, 5 identified competitors. Proposals are merged without duplicates with your existing configuration, you retain full control before saving. Available in French, English, Spanish and German.

Tip :Composing good AI prompts: a good rule is to put yourself in your target customer's shoes. Instead of « auto insurance », prefer « which auto insurance is most advantageous for a young driver in Quebec? ». The more natural and specific the prompt, the richer the AI responses will be in relevant mentions.
Warning :Don't exceed your quotas: 50 keywords may seem few, but it's largely enough to cover a site's strategic queries. Prefer quality (ten well-thought prompts) to quantity (fifty generic prompts).
